Bass Pro’s Morris grows wealth but falls in Forbes 400

Bass Pro Founder Johnny Morris expanded his wealth according to the 2023 Forbes Magazine list of the 400 richest people in America, but he actually fell in the rankings in both the nation and the state.

Forbes estimated Morris’s net worth at $8 billion, an increase from last year’s estimated $7.8 billion. That amount put the Ozarks’ wealthiest man at 114th on the list, tied with Mediacom Founder Rocco Commisso; Tilman Feritta, who owns the NBA’s Houston Rockets; and music and record mogul David Geffen, and just $.1 billion ahead of Home Depot Founder Arthur Blank. In the 2022 listing, Morris was in the top 100 at No. 92 with an estimated $7.8 billion wealth.

In 2022, Morris was the wealthiest Missourian on the list. This year, like in the main list, he fell; Morris now ranks No. 2 for richest Missourian after Cargill heiress Pauline MacMillan Keinath, who had a reported wealth of $8.8 billion.
