Area is Drought Free as Temperatures Warm Up

For the first time since Spring, the latest report from the U.S. Drought Monitor indicates that no area of the Lakes Region is in any type of drought condition.

Recent rainfall has brought the water levels in northern Arkansas around Madison and Newton Counties high enough to remove the Abnormally Dry level from the report. Most of the rest of the Lakes Region had been normal for several weeks.

This comes as a warm-up continues in the region after the hard freeze earlier this week ended the growing season. Temperatures are expected back in the 60s today and could reach the 70s over the weekend.
