SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — “The sooner the legislation is passed, the sooner we can eradicate human trafficking and child trafficking here in Missouri once and for all,” Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey said inside a conference room at the Southwest Missouri MoDOT office.
“We’ve assembled a 54-member anti-human trafficking task force consisting of law enforcement agencies, nonprofit advocacy groups and other stakeholders from across our state,” Bailey, who is running for re-election at the AG office said. “We’ve created this task force with one goal in mind to end the scourge of human trafficking in Missouri.”
So what does the task force aim to do?
“For the first time in the state’s history, the attorney General’s office has successfully conducted trainings throughout the state. Countless Missourians are now empowered to identify human trafficking, know what to do when it’s occurring, and most importantly, they can effectively take action to aid survivors. We’ve also launched a one-stop shop on our website as a central place for Missourians and stakeholders to go for resources to address this issue. Second, we’ve built never before seen capabilities with law enforcement by participating in raids and operations to rescue victims,” said Bailey.
