With people remembering that they were doing and where they were at when the terrorist attacks on the United States began 23 years ago, some Lakes Area Residents will think of a person with ties to the area.
John Willett, a 1990 Branson High School graduate, was at work in the building as a financial planner for a non-profit organization when the planes hit the towers on September 11, 2001.
Willett was appointed Taney County Treasurer by then Governor Mel Carnahan in 1995 to fill a vacancy then after leaving officer, completed his education and went to New York.
The remains of John Willett were never recovered after the collapse of the twin towers.
A bench in his honor at Branson High School's Football Stadium is one of the memorials in the region.
