19th Annual Chili Cookoff on Saturday

The nineteenth annual chili cookoff is on Feb. 24.

Rotary Club member Gary Leach appeared on KRZK's "The Up Side with Josh and Them" on Wednesday to discuss the weekend event. The Branson Daybreakers Rotary Club sponsored cookoff will occur at the Lion's Club building from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tickets are $9. Attendees under the age of 12 can come for free.

Leach said there are three categories of people competing to win prizes. The cooks come from local restaurants, fire and police personnel and other clubs.

Several local businesses are participating in the cookoff. Bob Evans, Mr. B's Ice Cream Parlor, Taney County Sheriff's Department and more will participate the Saturday activity.

Leach said he thinks there are 10 chilis that will be available to sample. Winners are decided by attendees voting with their money. He described the prizes as "tremendous."

These prizes will be given in the forms of a raffle, a 50 50 drawing, a silent auction and a live auction. Proceeds from the event will go to local charities. Rotary won't keep any of it.

The Lion's Club building is located at 10 State Hwy 76, Branson, MO 65616, USA. It's east of the Taneycomo bridge. More discussed on the broadcast.

The full show is on the Up Side Facebook Page.
