Violet Mae Laughlin, 87 of Hollister, Mo.

Violet Mae Laughlin, 87 of Hollister, Mo, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 28, 2022 at her residence. A Celebration of life will be at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, April 9, 2022 in the Kissee-Schofield-Eakins Funeral Home, Forsyth, Mo.

 

Violet Mae (Roberts) Laughlin was born on, Saturday, September 15, 1934 in Hilda, MO, to Willard and Allie (Braden) Roberts. She was the youngest daughter and had three sisters and four brothers. She married Ray Cook on July 26, 1953 in Forsyth, Mo, and they had six children. She was a longtime cook in Forsyth and Branson and had many other service jobs in and around the area. When she retired from the tourist industry, she became a caregiver for the elderly in their home and her’s. She lived most of her life in Taney County, but also lived in Arkansas and Louisiana for short times.

She loved to garden, cook, crochet, can her vegetables and spend time with her many grandkids, great and great-great grandkids. She had an amazing green thumb and it was very obvious in her vast vegetable garden and her enormous colorful flowerbeds.  Not only was she able to can enough for herself, but also for family, friends and neighbors. In the spring, she would have boutiques of Daffodils, Irises, Peonies, Roses and Dahlias in the summer. In her later years, she loved to crochet towels while watching Gunsmoke, wrestling and enjoyed watching game shows and playing checkers with her great grandson, Noah.

She is survived by three daughters, Sherry Walker, Brenda Grant and husband, Jason,  Terry Scott and husband, Dennis; one son, Ray (Herb) Cook Jr. and wife, Missy; twenty-four grandkids, (Marilyn) Ronnie, Jennifer and Leslie, (Janet) Michael, Marsha, Jeffrey, Jeremy, Timothy, Tyler, Christy, (Sherry) Misty, Sabrina, Jeff, Cody, (Brenda) Louis, Charlie, Brittany, Morgan, (Terry) Heather, Ashley, (Herb) Jarrett, Jarrica, Bryan and Erika; sixty-one great- grandkids and ten great-great-grandkids; one brother, Denzel Roberts (Lila) and her Dachshund Monk.

She is preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Lorene Garver, Thelma Hankins and Bonnie Collins; three brothers, Son, Jack and Billy Roberts; two daughters, Janet Beard and Marilyn Cook; one grandchild and three great-grandchildren.

Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of the Kissee-Schofield-Eakins Funeral Home, Forsyth, MO.
