Steven “Steve” Dale Freke, age 75, of Cassville, Missouri

Steven “Steve” Dale Freke, age 75, of Cassville, Missouri, passed away February 3, 2023, with family by his side. He entered this life on December 30, 1947, the son of Dale Vernon and Laura Dorothy (Parcell) Freke in Aurora, Illinois. Steve was joined with the love of his life, Debra Lawyer, on May 1, 2003.

Steve proudly served our country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. During his time in the Air Force, he earned the rank of sergeant. Prior to his time dedicated to the Air Force, Steve went to North Dakota State University, where he received a bachelor’s degree in engineering and played football all four years. After his time in the military, Steve worked on pipelines then began working with Nicor Gas Company in Illinois. In 1978, he became vice president in management for the Nicor Gas Company. Steve enjoyed repairing old cars motorcycles, woodworking, and taking something dull and making it shiny again. Steve had a strong belief in the Presbyterian foundations. He loved laughing, making jokes, and spending time with his family. The memories and moments that Steve created with his loved ones will be cherished forever.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Sandy Dahn.

Steve is survived by his spouse of twenty years, Debra Lawyer of Cassville, Missouri; son, Brandon Lawyer of Cassville, Missouri; daughter, Amanda (Josh) Meyer of Havre, Montana; and his dog, Charlie.

A celebration of life will be held 1:00 p.m. Sunday, February 19, 2023, at Saint Thomas Becket Episcopal Church, 13595 State Hwy 112 and crossroads of AA, Cassville, Missouri 65625. Arrangements and cremation are under the direction of Cremations of the Ozarks.
