Shirley Ann (Williams) Birdsong, aged 82

Shirley Ann (Williams) Birdsong, aged 82, of Snowball passed away Saturday, July 25, 2026, at the Springs at Mount Vista in Harrison. She was born October 1, 1943, in Snowball, the third of ten children born to Dolford and Iwilla (Barnes) Williams.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant sister, and her husband Wayne Birdsong who passed in 2002.

 

Shirley is survived by three brothers; Keith (Cleta) Williams, J.G. (June) Williams, and Dennis Williams. Five sisters; Ada Lavern Little, Carol Sue Bryant, Pat (Bill) Carver, Sandi Fisher, and Marlis (Dennis) Raney. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, a host of extended family members, many close friends, and the entire Snowball community all of whom will miss her dearly.

 

Shirley was a gifted seamstress and artist and painted several pieces depicting historic buildings in Snowball and the surrounding communities. She also researched the history of the area and the genealogy of many of the founding families.

 

The family would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the staff and volunteers of the Springs at Mount Vista for the loving and supportive care they provided Shirley in her final years.

 

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at 11:00am at the McDaniel Cemetery in Snowball. The Reverend Joe Dale Williams will officiate, but anyone is welcome to say a few words or share a fond memory of Shirley.

 

She will live on in our hearts.
