Richard Vahldick was born and raised in Willard, Missouri where he developed a lifelong passion for music. He studied music at Missouri State University before becoming a beloved fixture in the Branson entertainment community.
He began his career at Dogpatch USA and in the Old Sawmill Theater. Going forward, he spent several years performing in the Corncrib Theater and the Shepherd of the Hill outdoor Play as the Haint of Mutton Hollow. In 1973, Richard began what would become a remarkable 51 year career at Silver Dollar City. He started as the pianist for the park’s famous Saloon Show before becoming widely recognized as one of the two frontmen of the River Rats Dixieland Band playing his trombone and piano while entertaining crowds daily. Throughout his career, he also performed and toured with numerous Branson entertainers and productions, including the Wilkinson Brothers and the Memory Makers.
Later in his career, Richard transitioned into entertainment production at Silver Dollar City, where he served as a producer for the park’s renowned festivals. He played an integral role in producing many of the park’s signature festivals, including WorldFest, the National Harvest & Cowboy Festival, An Old Time Christmas, Bluegrass & BBQ, and many other celebrated events that entertained millions of guests over the years.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Richard was an avid model railroader, a devoted admirer of Mark Twain and NPR. He possessed boundless curiosity and knowledge about history, science, and the cosmos. He was happiest sharing his knowledge, telling stories, and inspiring those around him with his enthusiasm for learning.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Vonna Vahldick, sister Marybeth Drazsnzak, and brother Roy jr. Vahldick.
Richard is survived by his wife, Bambi, his two sons, Zachary (Molly) of Branson and Tyler (Kylie) of Austin,Tx, his three cherished grandchildren, Sloan, Grant, York and his brother Carl. He is further survived by countless nieces, nephews, and lifelong treasured friends.

Celebration of life service will be held at Snapp-Bearden Funeral Home on July 25, 2026 in Branson at 2:00 with visitation following from 2:30 – 3:30 in the funeral home.
