Richard “Dick” Eugene Rankin

Funeral services for Richard “Dick” Eugene Rankin, 85 of Hollister, will be Monday, January 31, 2022 at Snapp-Bearden Funeral Home and Crematory, Branson. Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM with the funeral service at 2:00 PM with Pastor William Durrant officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Ozarks Memorial Park Cemetery, Branson.

Richard was born on January 15, 1937 in Decatur, IL to Loran and Margaret Fern (McClure) Rankin. He served in the United States Air Force, and married Laquetta Jane Hampton in 1954. Richard cherished being a dad and raising his family, he worked in sales for Hillyard Supply and enjoyed the many relationships created. Richard was a man of faith and devoted time each day to study God’s word. He was musically gifted and played the guitar and wrote many songs. Richard liked to be on the lake fishing. He was also a good basketball player and if he wasn’t playing, he enjoyed catching a game as a spectator.  In August of 2019, Richard had the pleasure to marry Anita Estpua in Hollister.

Richard entered into rest on Thursday, January 20, 2022 at his home surrounded by family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Laquetta and son James Rankin.

Richard leaves behind his wife, Anita Rankin of Hollister; children, Richard Rankin, Jr. of Fayetteville, NC, Debbie Strand (Joel) of Branson, Brian Rankin (Diann) of Hollister, Cheryl Erickson (Robert) of Branson, Terry Rankin (Robin) of Blue Eye, Eric Rankin of Hollister, Gina White (Ron) of Mattoon, IL, Ann Bacigalupo (Barb) of Morton Grove, IL; daughter-in-law Nan Rankin of Hollister, step-daughter Ellie Stacer (Gary) of Hollister and four other step-children; brothers, Pete Rankin (Hazel) of Shelbyville, IL, John Rankin (Marie) of Kimberling City; sister, Martha Vits of Champaign, IL; twenty-nine grandchildren, numerous  great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
