Ralph R. Wilson
Ralph R. Wilson was born on November 29, 1939, in Wathena, Kansas, to James and Cora Wilson. Ralph grew up surrounded by a large and loving family, the youngest of his 13 siblings.
Ralph’s life was marked by hard work, enjoying the outdoors and sharing life with family and friends. In 1957, while on his senior trip, he first visited Branson and knew then that he wanted to return to the area someday. He worked in small engine repair and on forklifts in St. Joseph, Missouri later taking a position with Carnation in Elwood, Kansas, where he continued working in repair and driving forklifts. He also served as a contract mail driver, but the work closest to his heart was his truck farm, where he grew and sold vegetables, watermelons, and flowers with pride and dedication.
In October of 2016, Ralph moved from Crosby, Missouri, to Hollister. He became good friends with the owners of Blue Haven Resort in Branson, where he helped with maintenance work and found time to fish, one of his favorite pastimes.
Ralph was a man who stayed busy and never seemed to sit still for long. He performed and traveled as a square dancer. He enjoyed woodworking and making wood signs, and he took great pleasure in fishing, playing cards, and golfing, where he proudly counted several hole-in-ones among his accomplishments. He also enjoyed traveling and had memorable trips to the Bahamas and Las Vegas. Those who knew him best will remember his ornery spirit, his quick wit, and the fact that he was never idle. He lived life with energy, humor, and a strong work ethic that left a lasting impression on everyone around him.
Ralph passed away on July 15, 2026, in Hollister, Missouri, at the age of 86.
He is survived by his wife, Lillian Wilson. What began as a supportive friendship eventually blossomed into love, and they were married in 2019. Ralph will also be deeply missed by his daughter, Christina Kasper (Richard Mills) of Joplin; his bonus children, Judy Adams (Randy) of Hollister and Steve Wolfe of St. Joseph; his brother, James “Doc” Wilson; his sisters, Margaret Thomas and Ruth Jones, all of the St. Joseph, Missouri area; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, James & Cora Wilson; siblings, Fern Sharp, Woodrow, Vernon, Billy, Robert, Carl, and Joe Wilson, Maxine Majewski and Virginia Rutter and son, Bernard Whetstine.
His life reflected perseverance, independence, and a genuine love for his family and friends.
Visitation and viewing will be Friday, July 24, 2026 beginning at 2:00 pm in Snapp-Bearden Funeral Home & Crematory, Branson followed by cremation.
