Lorraine Irene Barkhoff, age 85, of Cassville
Lorraine Irene Barkhoff, age 85, of Cassville, Missouri passed away Friday, July 3, 2026 at Mercy Hospital Northwest Arkansas in Rogers, Arkansas.
She was born October 12, 1940 in Spencer, Iowa the daughter of Louis William and Ora Irena (Miller) Schoning. On June 21, 1959 in Spirit Lake, Iowa she was united in marriage to Ronald Barkhoff, who preceded her death. Also preceding her in death were her parents; daughter, Dawn Young, and seven siblings.
Surviving are her son, Shane Barkhoff of Grantville, Pennsylvania; three grandchildren, Jessica Dingman of Pennsylvania, Samantha Barkhoff of Pennsylvania, and Ricky Young of Colorado and special caregiver, Julie Davison of Cassville, Missouri.
Lorraine grew up in rural Milford, Iowa and attended Okoboji Community Schools, through her junior year before graduating from Milford High School in 1958. Lorraine lived in Paonia, Colorado for 40 years before moving to Cassville in 2003.
She was an active member of the Lutheran Women's Missionary League for 40 years while living in Paonia. After moving to Cassville, she volunteered and became a member at St. John's Hospital Cassville Women's Auxiliary in 2008 until her death. Lorraine also served as vice-president eventually becoming president and purchasing agent for the gift shop. She gave hours and hours of her time doing the volunteer work. Lorraine was a former member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Cassville and was a current member of Peace Lutheran Church in Shell Knob, Missouri. She loved gardening, traveling, reading, cooking, and crafting. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, July 26, 2026 at Peace Lutheran Church in Shell Knob, Missouri. Pastor Steve Okpisz will conduct the service.
Cremation arrangements are under direction of Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville.
