Kenneth “Ken” Joseph Bowers, age 79, of Blue Eye

Kenneth “Ken” Joseph Bowers, age 79, of Blue Eye, Missouri, passed away at home with family by his side on September 27, 2021. He entered this life on May 16, 1942, in Hawkeye, Iowa, the son of Ad and Flora May (Henning) Bowers. Ken was joined in marriage September 28, 1963, to the love of his life, Ruth Harms. Ken proudly served our country as a Sergeant in the United States Army during Vietnam.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Cody; sister, Sue; and two brothers: Fred and Jack.

Being a mischievous soul, Ken enjoyed teasing those who he loved and was constantly making jokes. Ken loved fishing, carving wood, playing the guitar and harmonica, collecting pocketknives, and riding and breaking horses. In his working life, he operated bulldozers and worked for Tyson Foods in security until his retirement. Ken was a wonderful husband, father, son, brother, and friend; he will be greatly missed by those who knew him.

Ken is survived by his wife of fifty-eight years, Ruth Bowers of Blue Eye, Missouri; daughter-in-law, Shelly Bowers of Blue Eye, Missouri; granddaughter, Lacey Bowers of Blue Eye, Missouri; great-grandson, Cody Schluterman-Bowers of Blue Eye, Missouri; niece and honorary granddaughter, Emma of Blue Eye, Missouri; nephew and honorary grandson, Jacob of Blue Eye, Missouri; brother, Richard Bowers of Ridgedale, Missouri; sister, Linda (Bill) Myers of Monticello, Iowa; close friend, Angela Stull of Blue Eye, Missouri; as well as many nieces and nephews.
