Kathryn Buckstaff, age 74, of Hollister, Missouri

Kathryn Buckstaff, age 74, of Hollister, Missouri, passed away September 9, 2021, peacefully in her home, with her loving husband by her side. She entered this life July 22, 1947, in Antigo, Wisconsin, the daughter of Angus and Florence (Phillips) Buckstaff. Preceding her in death were her parents. Her life journeys brought her to Springfield, Missouri, where she graduated from Southwest Missour4i State University and later earned a master’s degree in English Literature.

In 1992, Kathryn became the Branson bureau chief for the Springfield News-Leader, reporting on the Branson entertainment boom. Her countless news stories as well as regional and national magazine articles contributed significantly to Branson’s success. In 2007 Kathryn joined the Branson/ Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce as membership episodes of the Branson Community Connection TV program were shown on the Vacation Channel. Virtually every Branson entertainer of the time as well as local businesspeople and community leaders appeared on her show. Kathryn was also a published author of travel books and mystery novels using Branson as a backdrop for her stories.

In 2012, Kathryn retired to enjoy the entertainment and beauty of the community she loved and supported so much. She enjoyed strolling the boardwalk at Branson Landing and hiking the nature trails at Table Rock Lake. Writing, crafting, and laughter filled her days. She will be remembered for her beautiful smile and loving heart.

Kathryn is survived by her husband, Robert Palms of Hollister, Missouri; son, Brett Piper and wife Jennifer of Springfield, Missouri; son Brian Piper and wife Jennifer of Fairport, New York; and granddaughter, Elizabeth Piper and grandson Adam Piper.

A private family celebration of life is planned. Final arrangements are under the direction of Cremations of the Ozarks. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite charity in Kathryn’s honor.
