Joy Marguerite Christensen, age78, of Rockaway Beach, MO

Joy Marguerite Christensen, age78, of Rockaway Beach, Missouri, passed away August 7, 2021, in Springfield, Missouri. She entered this life November 22, 1942, in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada, the daughter of Frank and Lilian (Gray) Granger. Preceding her in death are her parents and her husband, Gerald “Jerry” Christensen.

Joy “Joie” was a lady like no other. She started entertaining crowds with her musical talents at a very young age. By her mid-20s, she had built a career in entertainment and was well known in Canada and the northern United States. She could sing almost any genre of music, but her favorite was Blues, Gospel, and Christian music. She married her beloved husband Jerry in 1988. The two, along with her precio0us mother, Alberta, moved to Branson in 1993. After giving her heart to the Lord, she lived to sing for God. She never met a stranger and she loved to give thing to others. Always looking for a way to bless someone with whatever she had. Sometimes it was the very clothes off her back.  She was honest to a tee and always spoke her mind. Joy had a passion and love for animals. She had many pets throughout the years and was always wi8lling to find a stray a home. The most important thing to her was letting others know about Jesus and how he had changed her life. She was loved by many and will truly be missed.

Joie is survived by many cousins in Canada and numerous friends. Spanky Stein of Michigan, referred to as “sis”; Brian Pendergrass of Missouri;, referred to as “son;” her loyal companions: Andy, Dylan, Peaches, Patches, and Minnie Purr.

A celebration of life will be held at 3:00 p.m., August 29, 2021, at Faith and Wisdom Church in Branson, Missouri, with Pastor Mike Brown officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Faith and Wisdom Church. All donations will be placed in The Joie Christensen Memorial Fund.  Arrangements and cremation are under the direction of Cremations of the Ozarks.
