Harold Stanley Westcott, Jr, was born on September 29, 1931 in Niagara Falls, New York. He was the son of Harold Stanley Westcott and Mildred Grace Julias.

Both Marlene and Harold became Master Guides in the church youth ministries program known as Pathfinders.

In the late 1960s the Westcott family decided to leave California and move to the Midwest initially heading for Springfield Missouri but when they reached northwest Arkansas, they enjoyed the area so much that they purchased land outside Gravette, Arkansas and settled down.
