Edna Marie Stief

Edna Marie Stief was born on December 6, 1930 in Kansas City, Kansas to Leo J. Green and Ada (Howell) Green.

Edna Marie Stief was born on December 6, 1930 in Kansas City, Kansas to Leo J. Green and Ada (Howell) Green.  She married Duane Hampton Stief on November 24, 1951 in Columbia, MO.  Edna graduated from the University of Missouri in Columbia with a degree in education.  She spent many years teaching in Carbondale and O’Fallon, Illinois.  At the age of 80, she returned to her love of teaching as a substitute for Hollister schools.

Edna loved Jesus and was a faithful child of God.  She attended Faith Life Church and more recently Grace Community Assembly in Branson, both churches and church families were special to her.  She was a prayer warrior and active with her church’s prayer groups and served with various church teams.  She had many close friendships forged with the ladies she prayed with and walked an iron sharpening iron relationship with them.  

Edna was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.  She loved her family immensely.  She enjoyed visiting her grandchildren and great grandchildren and spending time with all her family.  She was a wonderful seamstress and had sewn clothing when her children were small and handmade quilts for all of her family as a true labor of love.

Edna entered into heaven on January 27, 2022 at the age of 91 and we celebrate her going home and reunion with loved ones.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Duane; and sister, Mary Lee Green.

Edna is survived by her children, David Stief and wife Julie of Nixa, MO, Dawn Francis and husband Conrad of Gulf Shores, AL, Kevin Stief and wife Donna of Reeds Spring, MO and Mary Lou Combs and husband Mike of Branson; her sister, Vera Lou Smith of Dallas, TX; brother, Richard J. Green and wife Carolyn of Russellville, MO along with seventeen grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.

Arrangements were by Snapp-Bearden Funeral Home and Crematory, Branson.  She will be laid to rest in Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield.
