Delma June Ellis

Delma June Ellis, age 97, of Washburn, Missouri.

Delma June Ellis, age 97, of Washburn, Missouri departed her earthly home on September 13, 2022 at St. Luke’s Skilled Nursing Center in Carthage, Missouri.

She was born June 19, 1925, at home in Wheaton, Missouri to Charles Audie and Daisy Jane (Creason) Harrell. On September 20, 1941 in Washburn, Missouri she was united in marriage to Loyd Nimon Ellis, who preceded her in death on January 2, 2014. Also preceding her in death were her parents; two children, Jimmy Ellis and Laveta Boyd, and two grandchildren, Kently Ellis and Marty Boyd.

Surviving are one daughter, Fran Horton, of Diamond, Missouri; one brother, Willis Harrell and his wife Coleen of Wheaton, Missouri; two grandchildren, Lana Patterson of Bentonville, Arkansas and Mickie Mahan and her husband Loy of Neosho, Missouri; ten great-grandchildren and numerous great-great-grandchildren.

Delma grew up and attended school in Wheaton, Missouri. She was hard to beat in a game of dominos. Leaving hungry wasn’t allowed because she made the best hot rolls and brown beans on Earth and she liked to send food home with everyone. To know her was to know kindness, acceptance, and love. She enjoyed music, dancing, gardening, canning and taking care of family and friends, but most of all she loved The Lord. Though her mind had withered, even near the end, she could still be seen tapping or humming along with gospel music. She was a blessing to all who knew her and will be greatly missed by all who loved her. She was a member of the Washburn First Baptist Church.

Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, September 16, 2022 at Washburn First Baptist Church in Washburn, under direction of Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville. Reverend Glenn Erwin and Reverend Jim Erwin will conduct the services. Burial will be at Dent Cemetery in Seligman, Missouri.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. until service time Friday at Washburn First Baptist Church in Washburn.

Contributions may be made to the Washburn First Baptist Church in memory of Delma.
