David Eugene “Gene” Cochrane, 76 of Republic, MO

David Eugene “Gene” Cochrane, also known as “Mad Dog”, age 76, of Republic, Missouri passed away Tuesday, August 10, 2021 at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri.

He was born June 30, 1945 in Memphis, Tennessee, the son of David and Margaret (Pippin) Cochrane.  On December 31, 1983 in Seligman, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Theresa Barnes, who survives.  Also surviving are two daughters, Char-Marie Jennings and her husband Colby of Republic, Missouri and Stori Cochrane and Tanner Pruitt of Republic, Missouri; two sisters, Beth Schoeffler of Augusta, Georgia and Patti Stanton of Garfield, Arkansas; six grandchildren, Maggie, Macee, Emery, Cecilia, Livia and Hattie; an uncle, Slick Pippin and a host of nephews, nieces and friends.

Preceding him in death were his parents and a twin brother, Clarence Cochrane.

Ggene graduated from Lathrop High School in Fairbanks, Alaska.  After graduation he started attending college but was drafted by the United States Army where he did two tours in Vietnam.  After being discharged from the Army, he drove a truck for several companies.  Willis Shaw Express was his favorite company he drove for and his last company was Tyson, from where he retired in 2007.  He enjoyed music, especially bluegrass and was very talented as he could play multiple instruments.  He loved hotrod cars, especially lowriders, but most of all he loved his wife, his girls and the grandkids.  He was a great person and will be missed by all who knew him.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, August 16, 2021 at Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville.  Reverend Russell Bishop will conduct the services.

The family wishes to thank the Mercy Team in Springfield, Missouri for their wonderful care of Gene while he was there.
