Betty Lou Prater, age 84, of Hollister, Missouri
Betty Lou Prater, age 84, of Hollister, Missouri, passed away September 29, 2021. She entered this life May 21, 1937, in Marshall, Missouri, the daughter of Nolan and Mabel Powers.
With a caring heart and helpful personality, Betty found her niche working as a nurse’s aide for thirty years in care facilities in California before moving to Missouri. She could be found knitting or crocheting hats and scarves for those she loved. Betty always had children around her, whether her family or kids from the neighborhood, and cookies, candy, and breads were joyfully consumed. Each Thanksgiving and Christmas for many years there was food to be had at Betty’s house to go with the celebrations at hand. Her love and care for others will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jay Prater; daughter, Cynthia Prater; son, Armin Prater; and brother, Richard Powers.
She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl (Ronnie) Underwood of Colorado; three grandchildren: Joshua (Summer) Prater of Hollister, Missouri; Zane Smith of Charity, Missouri; and Nolan (Kristina) Prater of California; and ten great-grandchildren.
