Tabuchi Family to be Honored by City of Branson

A long time Branson Entertainment Family will be acknowledged by the City with a day in their honor.

Mayor Larry Milton has proclaimed August 31, 2021, as Shoji, Dorothy and Christina Tabuchi Day in honor of the iconic family’s contribution to the city and Shoji’s induction into the 2020 National Fiddler Hall of Fame.

Mayor Milton read the proclamation during the regular Board of Aldermen meeting on August 10, 2021, and presented it to Christina Tabuchi who was there representing the family.

Shoji Tabuchi, a native of Osaka, Japan, and his family, are longtime supporters of music education in public schools and have been an integral part of Branson’s live music development. The National Fiddler Hall of Fame announced Shoji’s induction in February 2020 but due to COVID, the Annual Gala Concert celebrating the inductees was rescheduled to October 22, 2021. The organization honors individuals for their contributions to fiddling, to preserve, educate and promote the art of fiddling and its historical significance. Shoji Tabuchi is also a past recipient of the prestigious Missourian Award, the Japanese Foreign Minister’s Award, and the Americanism Medal from Daughters of The American Revolution. Additionally, he is an Ozark Music Awards Entertainer of The Year as well as a four-time Instrumentalist of The Year; and Branson Terry Awards Lifetime Achievement and Humanitarian Award winner.
