St. Louis was one area that felt the impact of storms that begin in the Lakes Region on Friday.
According to forecasters with Ozarks First, the storms that began firing up late Friday morning in the Lakes Region reached severe levels just before exiting Taney County around the Bradleyville area. By the time the cells reached areas north of West Plains, it began producing tornados that spanned over 500 miles into Kentucky.
Meanwhile, another branch of the storm moved northeast and impacted St. Louis. The National Weather Service rated the tornado that moved through the city an EF-3 that damaged many buildings and killed five people.
