Ozark County Voters Decide on Use Sales Tax

A Lakes Area County will once again have a use tax proposal on their ballot.

For the third time in four years, voters in Ozark County will consider a use tax that would allow the county to collect tax on internet sales at the same rate that sales tax is currently collected by sales at businesses located in the county.

According to information posted by KTLO, the tax would be split three ways with 50% going to general revenue, 25% to law enforcement and 25% to road and bridge.

The measure has previously been rejected by Ozark County voters in 2020 and 2022.

Informational meetings have been taking place leading up to next week's vote with the final meeting scheduled for Thursday at 5:30 at the Ozark County Courthouse in Gainesville.

The issue will be one of several local issues and races that will appear on Ozark County Ballots during next Tuesday's Municipal Elections with polls open from 6:00 am to 7:00 pm.
