Missouri Senate Passes Congressional Map After All Night Session

The Missouri Senate after an all night session Wednesday into Thursday, finally pass a new congressional map.

While the Senate finally passed a map after three months of debate, this map must now go back to the Missouri House since the map they passed is different than what came out of that chamber.

Regardless of which map is past, it appears that the Lakes Region will have a split representation between the 7th and 8th District. Up until this year, only Ozark County was in the 8th District but the new map will move the majority of Taney County into that district except the Branson area, which will remain in the 7th. The exact line in Taney County is one of the differences of the maps but well over three quarters of the county will move to the 8th District starting next year. Barry, Christian, and Stone Counties as well as both the Springfield and Joplin areas will remain in the 7th District.

More details on this process can be found with a detailed story on the Ozarks First Website.
