Drug Take Back Event Saturday

The second of two annual Drug Take Back Events is scheduled for Saturday.

Many organizations around the country will take part in events. 

In the Missouri Lakes Region, the Taney County Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention Team (ADAPT), the Stone County Community Health Coalition, and the Stone & Taney Counties Substance Use Initiative have partnered with local pharmacies to promote safe medication disposal as a part of the event. Coalition volunteers will be on site during the event handing out free medication safety information and medication destruction packets. \

Locations worked by the Coalition include Walgreens Pharmacy in Branson and Hollister and Lakeland Pharmacy in Branson West. along with collection points in the parking lots of The Shoppes at Branson Hills in Branson and Church 3:16 in Forsyth. 

Other locations in the area according to the event website include the Merriam Woods and Ozark Police Departments, the Nixa-Branch Library, and Wal-Mart in Cassville. In addition, several other locations with permanent drop boxes will be holding events including the Boone, Marion, Newton, and Ozark County Sheriff Offices as well as the Eureka Springs and Harrison Police Departments. 

Over-the-counter medications, pet medications, and prescription medications are accepted in pill form, liquid form, patches, and creams.  No inhalers or needles/ syringes accepted.
