The Lakes Region is bracing itself for a major blast of cold air.
The National Weather Service says the Jet Stream is dipping south and bringing with it an Arctic Front that will push temperatures 30 or more degrees lower than today. The forecast calls for temperatures in the low 70s today then by the time the front moves through this evening, highs only reaching into the 40s on Sunday with strong northwest winds.
Low temperatures Sunday night will drop into the low 20s and areas that have not had a frost or freeze yet this season, including Carroll and Madison Counties in northwest Arkansas, are under a Freeze Watch for Sunday night into Monday morning.
Temperatures will stay in the 40s on Monday but rebound into the 60s for Veterans Day on Tuesday.
Little to no rain is in the forecast during the period with windy conditions prompting officials to warn the public about outdoor burning,.
