The Warm Temperatures for most of the day Tuesday helped lead to a big day for the opening of the Catch and Keep Trout Season at Roaring River State Park,
Dan Vanderhoef, Barry County Agent for the Missouri Department of Conservation, says during an interview from Roaring River on KRZK's "Ozarks Now" program that over 12,000 tags had been sold as of mid-morning and believes that the number of anglers could exceed what was expected due to the weather.
According to the Joplin Globe, Roie Hudson, a Cassville native who has been a long time attendee at Roaring River, received the honor of firing the opening shot at 6:30 a.m.
The Trout season continues through the end of October.
