This shelter has a big job every day because the Humane Society operates as a "no kill" shelter, meaning that no animal is euthanized due to space or time limitations.
We are now taking our animals to the SAAFhouse, a spay/neuter clinic, in Springfield twice a month and along with our animals we can take Stone County residences animals, too. The cost for a cat is $50 for the spay/neuter and $10 for the rabies shot, a dog cost is $60 for the s/n and $10 for the rabies. You can drop off the animal at the shelter at 6:30 a.m. the day of transport and pick up at 6:30 that evening. Please call our office at 417-272-8113 and be put on the transport list. Our July date for dogs is July 13 and our cat date is July 27.
We still need: dog food, cat food, puppy food, kitten food, dog & cat treats, chew toys, rawhides, dog & cat toys, cat litter, litter boxes, cat beds, collars, leashes, ear wash, cotton balls, Q-tips, non-tip water bowls, dog shampoo, hand sanitizer, laundry soap, dish soap, hand soap, dryer sheets, bleach, trash bags (tall kitchen & heavy duty), old towels, paper towels, spray bottles, brooms, mops, mop heads.
We'd also love to have: 4', 6' and 8' plastic tables, 6-foot tall chain link fencing to create an outdoor run for the animals and stainless steel cages. We'd also make good use of your CASH donations to assist in spay & neuter programs and to help with heartworm testing through "Nebo's Fund" (see below).
Your donations have been (and will be) distributed to the Humane Society of the Tri-Lakes in Reeds Spring, the new Shepherd of the Hills Humane Society in Branson and the Taney County Animal Shelter south of Hollister.
The Humane Society announces "Nebo's Fund", seeking donations to begin the practice of testing for heartworms in dogs and feline leukemia in cats prior to adoption. The fund will also make it possible to treat dogs with heartworm preventative medications.
The Society also seeks ongoing donations to the "Spay and Neuter" fund, helping to control the pet population in Stone County.

 Lulu is about 1 year old and spayed. She is a very sweet, very gentle dog, but a little shy with new people. Once she gets to know you, though, she is your new best friend. |  Friday is 1 year old and spayed. She loves people and is very smart and would love to have a family to take care of, but would be best in a home where she is the only dog. |  Saffron is 2 years old and spayed. She is a very pretty, petite yellow Tabby and loves to be petted. She would be best in a home where she is the only cat. |  Wall-E is a great cat, 2 1/2 years old, neutered and quite large. He loves everybody and is very friendly. Wall-E never meets a stranger, but doesn't like dogs. |
 Toffee is a very handsome, white cat with yellow Tabby colors on top, 10 months old and neutered. We want he and sister Livana to be adopted together. |  Livana is a pretty, white cat that is about 10 months old and spayed. We want her and brother Toffee to be adopted together. Both are very friendly. |  Maggie is a 4 year old, spayed Lab/Rottweiller mix with a bob tail. She is a very friendly dog, very smart and gets along well with other dogs. |  Nikki is a 1 year old, spayed Lab mix. She is a very pretty dog with beautiful brown eyes. She loves people and is very smart, ready for her new home. |
 Jinx is a fun, smart, playful 8 month old, really cute little Cattle Dog. She loves everybody. |  Lulu is a 2 year old, spayed, Beagle/Pointer mix, very pretty. She has a very sweet dispostion. |  Ali is a very handsome, 1 year old, neutered black cat. He is a little shy, but loves the younger kittens and takes good care of them. |  Harlequin is 1 year old and neutered and not happy at the shelter. He would be a great in/out cat, once he knows where home is. |
 Furrpurr is a petite, shiny, sweet, loveable, spayed 2 year old little black cat. She loves people and gets along well with other cats. |  Pixie is a 10 year old, spayed Toy Fox Terrier. She is a sweet little dog, but a bit shy with strangers. |  Little Boy is about 6 months old and neutered. He was a very shy kitten when he first came to the shelter, but gets more friendly every day. Little Boy is really handsome, quite sleek and shiny. |  Lucy is a pretty dog, 4 years old, spayed and housebroken. She is Lab mix with a bobbed tail! She is a friendly dog and she and Elby came from the same home, when their family had to move. She is a nice dog. |
 Elby is a very nice dog, 6 years old, spayed and housebroken. She is a Beagle/Lab mix and very sweet. She loves people and is good with kids. Her family had to move and couldn't take her with them, along with best friend, Lucy. |  Ivy is a 6 year old, spayed black cat that is very sweet and would love to have a new warm lap to lay in. |  X is 5 months old and neutered. (Y & Z already got adopted.) he is a great little puppy, very smart and a lot of fun. |  Blacky is a 5 month old, neutered German Shorthair Pointer/Lab mix. He is very sociable, almost housebroken and ready for a new home. |
 Yakima is 4 months old now and a little bigger than her picture shows. She's a sweet kitten, but a little shy until she gets to know you. She's playful and will come to love her new person once she's taken home. She's spayed and has all vaccinations. |  Iris is a Schnauzer mix, 4 years old and spayed. She came from a breeder, so isn't housebroken, but she is very smart, so would learn quickly. Iris is really sweet once she gets to know you. |  Miami is neutered. They would be a great pair to adopt together. They are not real outgoing kittens, but friendly and would like a new home. |  Darcia was born at the shelter on 3/9/11. She is the only kitten left of the litter. She has been spayed and had all vaccinations. Darcia is a really playful kitten and alot of fun. |
 Beau is a 7 year old, neutered Black Lab with a gentle disposition. He is slightly blind in one eye, but that doesn't bother him. He loves people. |  Jazzy is a great pup. She is a 7 month old Heeler/Lab mix, spayed and loves water. She and friends play in the pool all day on |  Missy is 2 years old and spayed and a great mouser, as you can see!
