The Arkansas Department of Health is asking people to get their pets vaccinated, this after another animal tested positive for rabies in Boone County.
A skunk has tested positive for the disease, bringing the total number of rabid skunks reported in the county to three this year. A bull located on a farm near Everton died earlier this month, and it tested positive for rabies
Health officials say they have several reports of dogs being exposed to rabies, but only one had been vaccinated. Of the 18 cats exposed, none had been protected.
All dogs and cats in Arkansas are required to be vaccinated against rabies by a licensed veterinarian
The Department of Health says children should also be reminded not to touch wild animals and to stay away from stray pets.
