Inmates and employees alike at the Taney County jail are using bottled water, until test results come back on the drinking water at the facility, that the sheriff says has a funny color to it.

Sheriff Jimmie Russell stopped short of saying the water was contaminated. Russell tells HometownDailyNews.com an elevated mineral count was discovered in the drinking water, and the health department is now running some tests:

I would like to take this opportunity to assure all City of Forsyth Citizens that their Drinking Water is Safe to drink and the problems the Taney County Judicial Facility are experiencing are internal.Sheriff Jimmie Russell told me when I called him this morning that they were having issues with some of their internal plumbing fixtures. The City of Forsyth has recently Performed Copper and Lead Tests on their water and was well below the acceptable levels. Copies of this test and a complete copy of Annual CCR report can be seen at Forsyth City Hall. We at the City of Forsyth are proud of our Water quality and work very hard to provide some of the Best tasting Water in Missouri, as a matter of fact, we won first place for the Best tasting Water In the State in 2008! If there are still concerns please feel free to call me at 1-417-546-4763 Thank You

How long has this been going on before it was brought to light? Several months I'm hearing.

It's the entire judicial facility. And the water was BLACK for a few weeks... yes, BLACK water. And it smells NASTY. How many millions of dollars did it cost to build this facility??

I work there. And I drink A LOT of water, and I always get it either from the tap or from the fridge in the break room. Never have I seen anything floating in the water or have I seen it off color. Just shut your pie hole and stop trying to stir things up.
