What’s it take to make a good pot of chili ? For a handful of members of the Branson Daybreakers Rotary Club it’s hours of simmering on low heat, or the spices that have been handed down from generation to generation, others say it’s several not so secret ingredients like corn, a cut up hotdog, pineapple and some brown sugar.

Rotarian Garrett Anderson entered this year’s chili cookoff, held over the weekend in Branson. When asked to share his recipe with HometownDailyNews.com, he couldn’t – nothing is down on paper.

Anderson didn’t win this year’s chili cook-off, but the Branson area did.  The Daybreakers Rotary Club hoped to raise 3-thousand dollars at the event – the club’s single largest one day fundraiser for the year, with the money going to help out non-profit organizations like the Boys and Girls Club,CAM, Loaves and Fishes, and the Women’s Crisis Center.
