U.S. Senate Candiates Back on Campaign Trail

The three Republican candidates for US Senate from Missouri are back on the campaign trail today, after spending the weekend in Kansas City at the party’s annual Lincoln Days Celebration.

The highlight of the weekend convention was a debate with all three candidates in attendance. St. Louis businessman John Brunner skipped two previous events, including one at Branson High School last month presented by Earls Family Broadcasting and Hometown Radio.

Brunner, Congressman Todd Akin, and former State Treasurer Sarah Steelman were cordial at the Kansas City debate, as outlined by rules from the state Republican Party.  There were no rebuttals for any statements and the candidates were not allowed to engage each other.

During the debate, Steelman cast herself as a fighter for freedom. Akin, as he did in Branson, highlighted his experience as a conservative voice in Congress, and Brunner touted his experience in business, calling himself the citizen senator.
