Skaggs Volunteer Services shows its support of Skaggs Regional Medical Center through a $47,000 donation for the purchase of Vigilance II Monitors. This generous donation will benefit patients in Skaggs Operating Room (OR) and Skaggs Critical Care Unit (CCU).
“The monitors are necessary in helping physicians diagnose patients and prescribe an appropriate treatment plan,” explains Sheryl Tilus, Skaggs Chief Nursing Officer. “They monitor, more specifically, the things we cannot see on the surface, patient hemodynamic vitals such as blood temperature and other cardiac-related vital signs.”
The $47,000 will pay for three monitors. The volunteers raise money through various fundraisers throughout the year, the Forget-Me-Not Gift Shop and Pink Door thrift shop.
Skaggs Volunteer Services first began in October 27, 1949 as the Estella Skaggs Auxiliary, and after merging with the Red Cross Volunteers, became known as Skaggs Regional Medical Center Volunteers in 2008. There are more than 300 Skaggs Volunteers serving in many areas: hospital, hospice, Mended Hearts and chaplaincy, Forget-Me-Not Gift Shop and Pink Door thrift shop.
