Branson businessman Gary Leach says he wants to be the next Western District Commissioner for Taney County.

Leach is the longtime operations manager for The Vacation Channel.  He first discussed the possibility of running for public office with Republican Party leaders last month, and made his decision official last night at a meeting of the County Republican Party.

Leach was asked by HometownDailyNews.com why he finally decided to run for office:

By all means, discuss your intentions with the Taney County Republican Party. You can see what that "Party" has laid on us so far! Must one be annointed by them in order to run for a county office???

All I know is this area needs some new people in office, this place is running terribly poor, And I am with you RB, I guess these people who don't like republicans haven't had enough of this bad economy yet.

Did Herman Cain come to the Taney County Republican Committee, or was his failures due to circumventing the usual annointing? As for the economy,Tom, remember who got us headed down this road to disaster. Remember the budget surplus Bill Clinton left behind, and how George blew it on a phony war? A war that was to have been paid for by the proceeds from our sale of the Iraq oil. Didn't quite work out that way did it. Don't tell me about the bad economy, I remember the Bush years. Have you already forgotten the money mess in Taney County as we speak. If Hollister demands their money for the schools, its possible the County could be bankrupt. 100% Republican controlled.

All I ask to my friends is: Just for one single example I would ask if you would look back at how much gas was 3 years ago and then next time you are out and about take a look at the fuel price now... I leave this conversation at that thought, I know other leaders have not done good, but I have never ever seen things this bad....

Gary's a nice guy, but I wouldn't vote for a republican for dog-catcher.
