Bear was appointed to the position after former director Gerald Ragland announced he was stepping down earlier this month.

Bear has a felony fraud conviction from Oklahoma on her criminal record, a fact she didn’t try to hide, saying previously the financial issue had been taken care of.  But the admission caused an uproar, with some in Harrison questioning her capability.

Bear said in her resignation letter that due to the political turmoil, she couldn’t effectively do her job.

The mayor says several have inquired about the finance director’s job, but only one person has officially applied.

I would have to disagree with the "political turmoil" reasoning. That is total BS. If a person working in FINANCE has a previous conviction of fraud they should not be working in an office for local government representing the people. Fraud is not something that is acceptable to a person with the responsibility of taking care of public funds.
