Moore admits he has little background in law enforcement, other than some criminal justice classes while attending College of the Ozarks, and a brief stint as a reserve officer with the Hollister Police Department. But Moore says he decided to run after being approached by many citizens, including members of the law enforcement community. He says he’d like to improve relations with employees at the sheriff’s department, and with other local law enforcement and emergency services agencies.
Incumbent Boone County Sheriff Danny Hickman announced last month he will seek an 8th term.

He says other changes would result in an improved relationship between the leadership and the staff at the sheriff’s office, and with other law enforcement and emergency services agencies. Moore says he’d also like the department to sponsor classes for citizens to learn about crime prevention, and protecting themselves and their property.
